This is a mystery bridge, over an unnamed pond, used by Century Mill Lumber, which began over 160 years ago in 1851.
I've been interested for years so finally decided to research it.
The bridge first appears in an aerial picture of the area in 1970. It was built between 1954 and 1970 and bridge may have been to support some farming on the south side of the bridge. I have not found the name of who farmed the south side of the pond who may have built the bridge.
The bridge itself is in bad shape. There is a No Access and Private Property sign at it's northern entrance.
This picture was
taken from the Springvale Baptist Church Cemetery at the north end of the pond. There are some Ratcliffs buried there. It was
William and Sarah Ratcliff who started the original mill.
So a mystery bridge across an unnamed pond which supported the old mill.
